Brighton’s First Tooth

Brighton’s first tooth (front lower left) broke through over the weekend. We think this may explain why she wasn’t taking bottles very well last week. We’re hoping this is why they haven’t been sleeping through the night lately as well, cuz as soon as it broke through, she slept all night. She’s super drooly, to the point that I had to put a bib on her yesterday. But, she’s been really happy and smiley, so if this is how she get’s teeth… we’re lucky!

I can’t believe how fast the twins are growing up! They are both mobile, rolling and semi-scooting to get where they want to go. Brighton weighs 13.2 lbs and Hallie weighs 14.8 lbs. They were sitting in their bumbo’s today holding hands and just grinning and making noises at each other. I hope that they stay close friends their entire lives. They both think Cole is awesome and he loves showing off for them, kissing them, picking them up, and telling them stories. It’s pretty dang cute to see all 3 of them interact. These precious moments sure help in the midst of the chaos and insanity when they are all 3 crying.

Super Cole – Problem Solver

Okay, so Cole’s new favorite show is “Super Why!” also known as the super readers… so everything at our house is “SUPER” lately.

Goal: Open the front door and go outside!
Problem: Can’t reach the new lock daddy installed.
Solution: I’ll push the stool over and climb up on it, since it is my personal ladder
Problem: The rug is in the way, I can’t slide the stool over to the door.
Solution: I’ll just roll up the rug and push it out of the way.
Problem: While I was moving the rug, I knocked over the baby gate, which is now blocking my path
Solution: I’ll just pick it up and move it out of the way. Now I can get my stool over to the door.

This was the point that I took the following picture, which luckily distracted him from his ultimate goal… so he never actually opened the door. Okay, I’ll have to add the picture later as I don’t have my camera with me.

Cole’s Latest

Jill: Cole, are you cute?
Cole: Yeah, duh
Jill (in her head): Did he just say “duh”?
Jill: Are you cute?
Cole: Duh!

He has been pretending he is a dog lately by crawling around on the floor, panting, barking, and asking for “dog” treats. He’ll even do tricks for his treats (turn around, sit, speak, etc). It’s pretty cute, except when he thinks it’s funny to lick you. I think he’s going to enjoy being a dalmation for Halloween. He pretends he is sleeping too and snores…. it’s hilarious.

He is doing really well with potty training at daycare, cuz his friend Jackson is potty trained. He does okay at home, but doesn’t get the same peer support at home so we have to work a little harder to keep it exciting. It’s amazing how he looks like such a little kid (instead of toddler) when he’s wearing big boy underwear instead of a diaper. They grow up so fast!

We went to the living planet aquarium on Tuesday when my sister was in town. He loved all the fish, sharks, rays, frogs, etc… but was extremely disappointed to not see a dolphin or a whale. I kept trying to tell him that it wasn’t big enough for dolphins and whales, but it didn’t sink in. Guess we’ll have to take him to Sea World.

Should I grow my hair out?

Okay, so I’ve been trying to grow my hair out with the thought that it’s probably the last time I’ll grow it long in my lifetime. Now I’m questioning my goal and need some help making the decision.

My two major pet peeves of people with long hair is people who insist on having it long, when it doesn’t look good and people who always pull it back into a ponytail or bun. I know that my hair is thick and healthy enough to look good long. I’m excited about wearing it down with loose curls or long and straight. While it’s unrealistic to say that I’ll wear my long hair down everyday, I do think that I’ll do my hair when I’m going out. The other thing to think about is when I do get sick of it long, I’ll donate it to locks of love again (for a third time in my life). I know that it will take longer to dry long hair, but styling should be about the same amount of time. I figure it will take about another year and a half to get it long enough to donate.

On the other hand, when I notice someone with a haircut that I think is “REALLY CUTE”… it’s always short. I love short hair! This is why I figure this would be the last time I’d grow it out.

My husband is really supportive either way, so it’s really my call. I just keep questioning my decision, so please vote and give me your thoughts. Here’s a pic of what it looked like last time it was long.
