Somersaults & All Boy

Okay so last week Coley totally just started doing somersaults. I have no idea who taught him nor have never seen him practice them. All the sudden last Tuesday night, he just bent over, tucked his chin, and pushed with his legs – doing a perfect somersault. He was so thrilled with himself that he did it over and over again cheering and clapping after each one. He did the first ones on the bed, then moved to the floor when I got him to do it for his dad. We asked the babysitter if he has ever done them at day care before and she said nope. I was really amazed by it – especially the fact that he tucked his chin by himself and could push hard enough to go straight over instead of rolling to the side. He now does somersaults every now and then, always cheering himself on with excitement after each one.

He is talking more, and more clearly too. He tries to repeat just about any word we ask him to say – if he wants something of course. He consistently says “buh-bye”, “joo” (juice), “ball”, “shoe”, “choo” (train), “tootie” (cookie), “tot dah” (hot dog), “ah oh”, “no”, “dah done” (all done), “tee to” (thank you), “bee bee” (binkie), “down”, “ou” (cow, out, and ouch), “baby”, “ready, set, go”, “uh, two, tee” (1,2,3), “on”, “ah” (off), etc… but still only signs “please”. He knows the sounds for lion, bear, dog, monkey, cow, kitty, rooster, and train – although he has to be in the mood to tell you. He’s getting better and better about obeying simple commands, but still has a mind of his own and reminds us daily of that. He is a little runner lately too, he will run and run around the island in the kitchen or the open area of our living room. He still loves all types of balls: baseballs, basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, rugby balls, golf balls, etc. He knows how to throw all of them, hit the baseball off a tee, kick the soccer ball, and has even hit golf balls with our clubs. I once had a slight worry before we had kids that maybe our boys wouldn’t like sports, I think Coley is a natural athlete and definitely ALL BOY.
